be@t – Bioeconomy at textiles

Bioeconomia na Indústria Têxtil

The company aims to create, develop, and materialize innovative products with high added value, combining performance and design with sustainability, comfort, and social and environmental responsibility, following some work already done in these areas and aligned with the best practices in the industry.

The be@t project has the overall objective of generating and consolidating a truly innovative, sustainable, and circular National Textile and Clothing Industry. Specifically, it aims to:

  • Develop new traceable textile products and materials of biological origin, renewable (including materials derived from forests, agro-industrial waste, and alternative natural fibers) with better environmental credentials, without compromising their performance levels.
  • Develop advanced and sustainable production and finishing technologies and processes. Explore innovative approaches to eco-design and eco-engineering to ensure circularity of all textile products generated in this structuring project.
  • Promote the use/reuse, collection, and recycling of textiles, economic business models, and strategic partnerships, as well as effective regional policies to implement circular, sustainable, and economic textile value chains.
  • Contribute to a culture of sustainability and responsible consumption by informing and engaging consumers, textile chain actors, brands, and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the generation and consolidation of a truly innovative, sustainable, and circular National Textile and Clothing Industry.
