Portuguese children’s fashion has once again earned a place in the spotlight of European royalty. Two-year-old Princess Mafalda of Denmark was photographed wearing an outfit by the Portuguese brand Wedoble during the traditional Changing of the Royal Guard, held on Friday 10 July in the courtyard of Gråsten Palace, the Danish royal family’s official summer residence.
King Frederik and Queen Mary were joined for the occasion by Prince Gustav, Princess Carina and their two children, Gustav Albrecht and little Mafalda, in a relaxed family moment that brought together several members of the royal household and drew the attention of international media.
Among the details that caught the eye was the young princess’s outfit. Part of Wedoble’s “Aguarela” collection, the ensemble — a blouse and shorts made entirely in Portugal from a soft cotton-and-polyester blend — stands out for the delicate floral print that defines the line.
Although the exact set worn by Princess Mafalda is no longer fully available, Wedoble continues to offer other pieces in the same floral print on its website, including a waistcoat, a skirt and a pair of trousers — extending the life of a collection that now enjoys renewed visibility thanks to its young royal ambassador.
More than a mere style note, Princess Mafalda’s appearance serves as an international showcase for Portuguese craftsmanship and the “Made in Portugal” label.
