Meet the latest AFF R&DI product

The R&DI department of A. Ferreira e Filhos e proud to show its latest product related to E-Textiles.

This development has already been addressed in other publications yet, it is always a pride when a development moves to a product line with such smooth and well-fitting parameters.

The main objective of the development project was to reduce as much as possible the productive stages associated with E-Textiles using flat knitting technology. The project was a success since these production steps decreased to only one. In other words, this product comes out of the knitting machine ready for the finishing of electrical connections.

The technical demands for such achievement are in the basis of this extremely competitive result.

E-Textiles represent a fast growing market throughout several areas of expertise. From wearable technologies, automotive, civil construction, architecture, home decor and several others, this production improvement comes to prove itself as a competitive, safe and low cost solution. Easy to apply, versatile and customizable.

This technology was used to transform a regular couch into a heated comfortable home resting place. The project also attended to the development of a temperature control application for smart phones and tablets enabling remote control. This low-consumption solution comes to show new heating solutions and increase comfort in our homes.

This product is suitable for domestic applications. It can be wet, cutted off or even jump on it (especially for those with children). Extremely resistant, does not create flame (does not burn) or short circuit when wet. Safe, practical, extremely comfortable and easy to use.

We will be present at HeimTextil from 9 to 12 January 2018, Hall 11.0 Stand A10. If you cold not visit us there, you are invited to visit our factory and check out this and other developments: A. Ferreira e Filhos SA – Rua Amaro de Sousa 408, Apartado 66; 4815-901 Caldas de Vizela; Portugal.

Special “thank you” to TECMINHO and Professor Marcos Martins for all the help and guidance during the development.
